Syria Comment

Has Obama Outsourced the Job of Chastizing Israel to Turkey?“ the author asks as the US government has been quite silently in the latest disgruntlement in the Syrian-Turkish relations. In the end Israel had to apologize for it’s treatment of the Turkey’s ambassador.

Israel for years has been the key stone of US politics in the near east region as it’s relations to all other countries in that region are hardly better than neutral to say it benign. And as Israel knows that it therefore could rely on US military aid and weapons. So by claiming defence necessities it has for decades been in offensive conflict with it’s neighbours. Not least by currently surpressing a future Palestinian state. America needs such an agent in that region but as Isreal is often acting on it’s own account it also is a continous source of trouble. Especially in the current situation America seems to notice that they do not have the support of the Western alliance for military conflicts with every rogue country. And the global power has no more (if they ever had) the power to fight out all this conflicts alone. So under Obama the role of Israel became weaker. Though the USA still is far from stopping the support of it’s protégé it’s rhetorical support for Israel’s action has significantly lowered. With the latest efforts of the Turkey in the dispute with Isreal the author assumes that the Turkey is in a way acting on behalf of the US government in chastening Israel.
